Welcome to Secret Club, a space for the delicious chaos of womanhood 🦪
HELLO YOU, I’m Tass, the writer behind Secret Club.
I’m an overthinker, and my writing is a spillover of the conversations I have over brunch, voice notes, thoughts, insights and crazy ideas that invade my brain late at night.
I’m obsessed with the ways patriarchal culture shapes how we behave, dress, choose less (or pink?), feel apologetic, or guilty. These topics come up naturally in therapy, in what I read, and in how I try to make sense of my own patterns and stories.
I’m based in Helsinki, and my favorite thing about this city is the second-hand shopping culture. I believe in dressing your character and expressing yourself through style without feeding the fashion machine.
Why I Love Secret Club (And Why You Might Too)
Secret Club is a weekly column — once a week, you’ll comfortably read it in your email, free from dumb scrolling, viral memes, and whatever social media has to abduct us from reality. Each essay brings a topic that will make you think, comment, and discuss with your friends over the weekend.
That is, of course, if you enjoy dissecting the delights and absurdities of being a woman in this particular era: no longer legally required to obey men, yet somehow still expected to. Patriarchy may no longer write the rules, but it continues to haunt the margins of our lives.
Secret Club was created in 2022 when I was really missing conversations with my female friends after moving from Brazil to Finland. I first hosted meet-ups, then started writing this weekly column. We went from chit-chat to deep reflections on being a woman, getting a partner, divorcing, being single, having babies or not, how not to be on a diet, toxic exes... all of it.
